The Sacrament of Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis of the whole of Christian life, the gateway to life in the
Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other Sacraments.

Baptisms regularly take place on Sundays immediately following 11:00 AM Mass. Please call 504-737-4537 in advance to make arrangements and to register for the Baptism Seminar. Attending this baptism seminar is mandatory for the parents and Godparents. Godparents must be Baptized, Confirmed, practicing Catholics, and at least 16 years of age. Complete the form below to request a Baptism at St. Matthew the Apostle. After Baptism, please submit a photo of your child's Baptism to [email protected] for publishing in our Sunday bulletin.
